The Art Theme
In the world of LEGO® Art, January 2025 will see the release of something truly special.
Love Sculpture
This set is based on Robert Indiana’s famous “LOVE” sculpture, which celebrates its 55th anniversary in 2025. The set will likely spark some mixed opinions, but it’s definitely a milestone in LEGO®’s approach to art-based builds. With a price of around 9-10 cents per piece, it’s a fairly affordable art set that any fan of iconic sculptures would love to add to their collection.
Batman Sets
DC fans won’t be left out, as January brings a few new Batman-themed sets. While they’re not all massive, they’re fun and exciting for collectors.
76331 Batmobile vs. Mr. Freeze
This 4+ set is on the smaller side, but it’s a good entry-level set for younger fans. Priced at 29-32 cents per piece, it’s a bit more expensive than usual for its size but makes for a fun and simple play experience.
76302 Superman vs. Lex Luthor
A great set for Superman fans, this set is a reversal of the 2012 set 6862, where Lex Luthor had the mech. Coming in at just under 12 cents per piece, it’s a perfect set for younger LEGO® fans interested in the DC universe.
76303 Tumbler vs. Two-Face and the Joker
This one might be more on the expensive side, but it’s a fantastic set for Batman collectors. The mini-figures, especially Two-Face, will be a big draw for fans of Gotham City.
Botanical Collection: Beautiful New Builds
The Botanical collection, which was previously part of the LEGO® Icons line, is now being separated into its own category, and January 2025 will see the release of several new sets:
10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet
With a price of around 7-8 cents per piece, this set is another beautiful addition to the collection. It features a variety of pink flowers that make for a lovely display. While the pieces are smaller, the attention to detail makes this a worthwhile set.

10344 Lucky Bamboo

BrickHeadz

This set brings even more F1 action with a truck that holds two high-performance cars—RB20 and AMR24. It includes a variety of mini-figures, offering great value for fans of both LEGO® and motorsport. The price per piece is slightly higher, but considering the detailed cars and the truck, it’s a fair price for this high-octane set.

For fans of space exploration, this spaceship offers a fun and modular build. It fits well within the City space theme that started strong in 2024. With 717 pieces, this set has a price per piece of just under 10 cents, which is good value considering the size and complexity of the build.

This set takes you on a road trip with a cozy camper van. While there’s not a ton of room inside, it offers enough space to fit mini-figures and makes for a cute addition to your LEGO® City. The price per piece works out to around 6-8 cents, making it a fun and affordable set for those who love adventure.
60458 Pizza vs. Fire Truck Race Car Pack
An utterly bizarre yet delightful set that’s sure to spark joy for fans of wacky LEGO® builds. 60472 Scrapyard with Cars
This set offers an in-depth building experience and more playability with its detailed cars and scrapyard scene. Priced at around 9-10 cents per piece, it’s a great option for those who want a larger, more complex City set.

With options to build a medieval dragon, phoenix, or Chinese-style dragon, this set offers fantastic playability and intricate designs. At 8.2 cents per piece, it provides decent value, especially with the retirement of the Creator Medieval Castle in late 2024.
31162 Cute Bunny

31164 Space Robot
For fans of futuristic builds, the 31164 Space Robot is a fun option. You can transform the robot into a cyber dog, frisbee-chasing dog, or even a rocket. 71488 Creative Animal Adventures
Similar to the Z Blob set, this offers a fun, colorful building experience. You can create different animals with this set, making it perfect for younger builders. Priced at 16.5 cents per piece, it’s an excellent value for the imaginative builds it provides.
71493 Cooper’s Gaming Controller Jet
71493 Cooper’s Gaming Controller Jet is an exciting set that lets you build a jet in the shape of a gaming controller. It’s a fun, unique design that appeals to both kids and adult fans. Priced at 7.5 cents per piece, it’s a great value for the cool design and playability.
71491 Mato and Z Blob’s Action Race Car
The 71491 Mato and Z Blob’s Action Race Car set offers an action-packed build with 485 pieces. With its vibrant colors and detailed designs, it’s a great choice for fans who enjoy fast cars and futuristic designs. At 10.3 cents per piece, it offers solid value for a fun and creative build.
71497 Cooper’s Tiger Mech and Zero Hot Rod Car
The 71497 Cooper’s Tiger Mech and Zero Hot Rod Car set is the largest in the Dreams theme. With 1,060 pieces, it’s packed with details and offers great playability. At 9.4 cents per piece, it’s a great value for such a large, action-packed set.
LEGO® Friends: Fun and Playful Builds
42640 Guinea Pig Playground
The 42640 Guinea Pig Playground set is a small and adorable build, perfect for younger fans. Priced at 11.6 cents per piece, it’s not the best priced option but does offer a cute and fun building experience.
42641 Surfing Dogs and Scooter Adventure
With 113 pieces, its retail price equates to 13.3 cents per piece, so whilst it might be good for the young animal lovers and adventure seekers, it is not so kind on the wallet.
42652 Friendship Treehouse Hangout
The 42652 Friendship Treehouse Hangout set is a more substantial build, perfect for those who enjoy detailed, colorful designs. With 701 pieces, it’s a fun and imaginative set, offering a slightly better value at about 10 cents per piece.
42655 Restaurant and Cooking School
This is a larger build with plenty of room for mini-dolls to explore. This open-backed set features a restaurant on one side and a cooking school on the other, offering great playability and lots of detail. With 896 pieces, this set comes at a price of 9 cents per piece, which is reasonable considering the spacious interior and the accessories included. A perfect addition for any LEGO® Friends fan looking for a more interactive build.
42656 Heart Lake City Airport and Airplane
For those who love to travel, the 42656 Heart Lake City Airport and Airplane is a colorful and fun build. This set offers a detailed airport with an airplane, perfect for recreating travel adventures. It’s a bit smaller in size compared to some of the other LEGO® Friends sets, but does sport a higher price tag.
42662 Hair Salon and Accessory Store
The 42662 Hair Salon and Accessory Store set is another delightful addition to the LEGO® Friends theme. This set allows you to build a hair salon and a cute accessory store, providing endless play opportunities for younger builders. At $45, it’s a bit on the pricier side for a smaller set, but the details and accessories help balance the cost.
42663 Friendship Camp and Adventure
The 42663 Friendship Camp and Adventure set brings the great outdoors to life, with a fun woodland camping theme that fits in perfectly with the camp-themed sets from 2024. It includes a 778-piece build that features tents, campfires, and other accessories to set up the perfect camping scene. Priced at 7.7 cents per piece, it offers a great value for the amount of detail packed into this adventurous set.
42669 Beekeeper’s House and Flower Garden
The 42669 Beekeeper’s House and Flower Garden set is a beautiful and unique offering in the LEGO® Friendslineup. This set allows you to build a detailed house for the beekeeper, surrounded by vibrant flowers and greenery. At $90, it’s a bit higher in price, but considering the detailed nature of the build, it’s an excellent choice for fans of nature and peaceful, serene builds. The cost per piece is reasonable, especially for the complexity and accessories included.
42670 Heart Lake City Apartments and Stores
The 42670 Heart Lake City Apartments and Stores set is one of the biggest and most detailed sets in the LEGO® Friends lineup. With 1,744 pieces, this set offers plenty of space for mini-dolls to live, work, and play. The colorful design is perfect for those who love the aesthetic of the Heart Lake City theme. At $150, the price per piece comes to 8.6 cents, which is a fair price for a set with such depth and playability.
42672 Creative Beach and Travel Suitcase
The 42672 Creative Beach and Travel Suitcase set is a great addition for younger builders, featuring a colorful beach theme with a small airplane. This set comes in a suitcase, making it portable and perfect for taking on the go. Unfortunately, the $30 price tag for only 188 pieces makes it a bit pricey. It could have been better value if it also functioned as a lunchbox or more versatile container for the pieces, but as it stands, it’s a fun set with decent play potential.
30696 Autumn’s Waffle Stand (Polybag)
The 30696 Autumn’s Waffle Stand polybag offers a fun, small build perfect for those looking for a quick, budget-friendly addition to their collection. Featuring a cute waffle stand and mini-figures, this polybag is an easy pick for fans of LEGO® Friends who want a quick, light-hearted build.
30697 Nova’s Dog House Build (Polybag)
The 30697 Nova’s Dog House Build polybag brings the heartwarming theme of pets into the LEGO® Friends world. A small but sweet build, it’s perfect for fans of animals and smaller sets. This polybag will be an affordable addition for any LEGO® Friends fan.
LEGO® Harry Potter
76444 Chamber of Secrets: Dueling Club
The 76444 Chamber of Secrets: Dueling Club is a smaller set that focuses on one of the most iconic moments in the Harry Potter series: the dueling club. Sadly the price is not good, being fairly poor value for money. That said, the set includes minifigures of Gilderoy Lockhart and Professor Snape, both of whom have unique designs. While the build itself isn’t particularly large or detailed, it’s a solid choice for fans looking to collect iconic minifigs. Some might be disappointed by the lack of leg printing for Lockhart, but it’s an ok set overall.
76442 Charms Classroom
This set includes minifigs of Ron, Hermione, and Professor Flitwick. At $20 for 204 pieces, it’s fairly standard, with a price per piece of 9.8 cents. This set goes towards what is supposedly the largest modular version of Hogwarts to date.
76447 Hogwarts Castle Flying Lessons
The 76447 Hogwarts Castle Flying Lessons set features the flying lesson scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, with minifigures of Madame Hooch, Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, and Neville Longbottom. The set is full of detailed accessories, and fans will appreciate the inclusion of some beloved characters. While the set is a little on the pricier side, the playability and unique elements make it a good choice for collectors.
76443 Hagrid and Harry’s Motorcycle Ride
The 76443 Hagrid and Harry’s Motorcycle Ride set features the famous scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This set includes Hagrid and Harry on a buildable motorcycle, but it has been divisive among fans due to the unusual design of the characters, particularly Harry, who lacks hands. The set comes with 617 pieces and is priced at $50, which works out to 8.1 cents per piece. While some might love the buildable characters, others may find them odd and not up to the standard of previous LEGO® Harry Potter sets.
76453 The Malfoy Manor
The 76453 Malfoy Manor set is a significant release for Harry Potter fans, featuring the iconic manor from the Deathly Hallows. However, this set has left many fans disappointed due to its lackluster design. Despite the nice range of minifigures, including Narcissa Malfoy, the build itself is extremely thin, with little substance. At $130 for 1,200 pieces, it comes out to 10.8 cents per piece, but many believe it falls short of expectations. It’s a missed opportunity for what could have been a truly iconic set.
76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops
The 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops is a divisive yet impressive set. With 2,750 pieces, designed in micro-scale, this set is perfect for those who want a highly detailed build without having to take up an entire room with minifig-scale sets. At $200, the price per piece is around 7.2 cents, which is quite reasonable for the amount of detail and the mini-figures included.
What sets this build apart is the display potential. The micro-scale allows it to take up much less space, meaning it can sit comfortably beside other LEGO® Harry Potter sets, such as the Hogwarts Castle. For those struggling with display space, this set could be a game-changer. However, if you prefer larger, more traditional builds, this might not be for you. Personally, I find it refreshing to see something so compact yet so detailed. It’s an interesting option for fans who want a more manageable yet still intricate piece for their collection.
LEGO® Icons
10350 The Tudor Corner
This is the latest in the LEGO® Icons modular series and definitely doesn’t disappoint. With 3,266 pieces, it’s one of the largest modular builds to date, and it offers an incredible level of detail throughout. This corner building is not just functional but visually stunning, with beautifully designed interiors and a diverse range of characters. Although the corner design may not fit with every display setup, it’s a unique and striking piece that adds character to any collection.
At $230, the price per piece works out to 7 cents, making it quite a good deal when you consider the complexity and detail involved. The set is expected to be highly sought after, especially with the added bonus of the 40757 Corner Newspaper Kiosk (205 pieces) when purchased on launch day. If you’re a fan of LEGO® modulars, this set will likely be a must-have, so be sure to grab it early before it sells out!
10363 Leonardo Da Vinci’s Flying Machine
For history buffs and builders who enjoy a challenge, the 10363 Leonardo Da Vinci’s Flying Machine is a unique addition to the LEGO® Icons theme. Based on the only thopter plans drawn up by Da Vinci, this set is an artistic and historical gem. The flying machine model is quite impressive, and it comes with a mini-figure of Da Vinci himself.
With a beautiful design and historical significance, it’s definitely a fun and thought-provoking build. While it may not appeal to everyone, I personally think it’s fantastic and a refreshing change of pace from the usual sets.
10359 Fountain Garden
The 10359 Fountain Garden is a beautiful but small diorama-style build. With 1,132 pieces, this set is a wonderful way to bring a touch of nature and tranquility into your LEGO® collection. The set showcases a stunning fountain garden, full of delicate details and vibrant colors, making it a peaceful addition to any display.
At $100, the price per piece works out to 8.8 cents, which isn’t too bad considering the amount of small pieces included. However, due to the smaller pieces and overall size of the build, some may feel it could have been priced a bit lower. Despite that, it’s undeniably a gorgeous build that will look great on any shelf. If you’re a fan of nature-themed sets, this is a solid option.
10355 Blacktron Renegade
Finally the 10355 Blacktron Renegade will be released in January 2025. This is one set that many LEGO® fans are excited about. It’s great that they are giving new life to some beloved older themes.
LEGO® Jurassic World
76940 Triceratops Skull
Following the T. rex Skull from last year, and ahead of the Tyrannosaurus rex fossil, the 76940 Triceratops Skull is another fantastic offering for dinosaur enthusiasts. This set, like the T. rex, focuses on detailed and realistic skull designs, making it a great option for fans of Jurassic World and paleontology. While I love the concept, I do wish LEGO® had expanded this line with more dinosaur skulls. The pricing seems fair, with a price of $45, and it’s expected that this set will see some decent discounts after launch, much like the T. rex skull did. Overall, a solid option for collectors at a reasonable price point.
76967 Little T-Rex
On the cuter side of Jurassic World, we have the 76967 Little T-Rex. This set is a fun, quirky build that evokes a bit of nostalgia for those who remember the small dinosaurs from animated films like The Land Before Time or Ice Age. At $20, this set is relatively affordable, and it’s definitely a fun addition to your collection, especially for younger fans. It’s a bit silly, but that’s what makes it charming. If you’re a fan of fun, light-hearted builds, this one could be a nice choice.
LEGO® Super Mario: Mario Kart
Super Mario Kart Sets
The Super Mario Kart sets were initially very exciting when announced, but I must admit, I’m a little disappointed. While the idea of bringing Mario Kart to life in LEGO® form seemed amazing at first, these sets ultimately didn’t meet expectations. The biggest issue? The characters aren’t interactive, meaning you can’t get the same level of playability as the original Super Mario sets, where placing figures into carts would trigger sounds and other interactive features. Instead, you’ll need to use the older figures, like Mario, Luigi, or Peach, to activate the carts. This seems like a missed opportunity, especially since Mario Kart is all about speed and action.
Pricing is also a concern, as these sets feel a bit overpriced for what they offer. If you’re a Mario Kart fan and don’t mind the lack of interactivity, you may still enjoy these sets. However, for me, they just don’t live up to the potential I had imagined when they were first announced.
72036 Mario Kart and Baby Peach’s Grand Prix Set
This set is part of the Super Mario Kart series, and while it’s more affordable than some of the others, it still suffers from the same issues. The character figures included aren’t interactive, meaning you won’t get the same level of play or sound effects as with the original Super Mario sets. While it’s great for younger kids, I was expecting a bit more fun and innovation. If you’re looking for a Mario Kart set, this is a decent option, but again, the pricing doesn’t feel quite right for what you get.
LEGO® Marvel
76300 Spider-Man and Friends Sets
Starting with the Spider-Man and Friends series, these sets are targeted at younger fans (4+), and the pricing is usually a little higher than expected for the piece count. The $20 set is pretty basic, offering simple builds and a couple of fun characters from the Spidey and Friends animated series. While the sets are not groundbreaking, they do serve as an introduction to the world of LEGO® Marvel for younger kids. If you’re looking for something more detailed or engaging, you may want to look at other sets.
76302 Spidey and Dino Crawler Rescue
The 76302 Spidey and Dino Crawler Rescue set offers a little more in terms of playability, with a Spider-Man figure and a dinosaur-themed rescue crawler. At $30, it seems reasonably priced, especially with the fun features like the crawler and simple builds. While it’s still geared towards younger fans, it’s a much better value than the basic Spidey and Friends sets. The dinosaur theme adds an interesting twist, and it might be a hit with younger Marvel fans who enjoy both superheroes and dinosaurs.
76303 Spidey and Goblin’s Raptor Battle at Treehouse HQ
Here we have a 4+ set with a steep price per piece at $55, offering just 143 pieces. This set includes Spider-Man and Green Goblin in a treehouse battle, but it seems a bit overpriced for what you get. The play features are pretty limited, and honestly, the price feels more like a premium for the Marvel brand rather than a reflection of the build itself. It’s a fun set for young kids, but the value isn’t as good compared to other builds.
76307 Iron Man Mech vs Ultron
The 76307 Iron Man Mech vs Ultron set offers a simple mech build for Iron Man, and it comes with a Ultron figure. At $15, this is a relatively affordable set with a decent build, though it’s not going to impress seasoned LEGO fans looking for more complex builds. For younger fans, it’s a fun, easy build with some action figures, though the overall value is a bit limited. Still, it’s a solid option for those looking for a quick Marvel set.
76308 Spider-Man Mech vs Anti-Venom
The 76308 Spider-Man Mech vs Anti-Venom set is similar to the Iron Man Mech, offering another simple, mech-based build with a Spider-Man figure and Anti-Venom. Like the Iron Man set, it’s an affordable option at $15, but the price per piece is a bit steep. It’s a fun set for younger Marvel fans, but there’s not much depth to the build or play features. Still, it offers a good introduction to LEGO® Marvel for younger builders.
